EduDuck Terms of Service

Welcome to EduDuck! By using our platform, you agree to the following terms and guidelines:

1. Use of the Service

1. EduDuck provides AI-powered study tools including quiz generation, flashcard creation, note enhancement, note analysis, study plan generation, and DuckAI chat assistance. You agree to use the platform for educational purposes only.

2. Users must not misuse the service, attempt to disrupt it, or exceed free-tier limits in ways that affect other users.

2. Accounts and Authentication

1. Some features require an account. You can register with email/password or sign in using OAuth providers (Google, GitHub, Discord, or Microsoft).

2. Email verification is required for password-based accounts via MailGun.

3. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and all activity on your account.

4. You must notify EduDuck immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

5. Deleted accounts can be recovered within 30 days by contacting support. After 30 days, deletion is permanent.

3. Content and Data

1. You retain ownership of the notes, PDFs, images, and materials you upload.

2. By using EduDuck, you grant a temporary license to process your uploaded content for AI-generated results. EduDuck does not claim ownership of your content.

3. Do not upload illegal, offensive, or copyrighted content that you do not own or have permission to use. Violations may result in suspension or termination of your account.

4. Generated content (quizzes, flashcards, study plans, enhanced notes, note analyses) is stored in MongoDB. For logged-in users, content persists; for guest users, content is stored temporarily in session storage.

4. Free Usage and API Keys

1. The free tier provides 3 daily uses of EduDuck AI features per registered account, tracked daily and reset at midnight UTC.

2. Additional usage requires your own API key from Hugging Face, OpenAI, or Google Gemini.

3. EduDuck reserves the right to limit or suspend access to ensure fair usage among all users.

4. API keys you provide are not stored permanently and are used only for your current session.

5. Privacy and Data Storage

1. Your data is stored in MongoDB (hosted by MongoDB Atlas) and may be processed temporarily for generating results and tracking usage.

2. Uploaded files (PDFs, images) are processed using Tesseract OCR and PIL for image preprocessing, then discarded after processing.

3. EduDuck does not sell your data. For more details on data handling, see our Privacy Policy.

6. Third-Party AI Services

1. EduDuck integrates with Hugging Face Inference API, Google Gemini (2.5 Flash), and OpenAI APIs for AI-powered features.

2. Your uploaded content is sent to these services for processing. Review their respective terms of service and privacy policies.

3. EduDuck is not responsible for the accuracy, availability, or responses generated by third-party AI models.

7. Updates and Termination

1. EduDuck may update, suspend, or terminate services at any time without prior notice.

2. Users can export their generated content (quizzes, flashcards, study plans, notes, note analyses) in JSON or text formats before deletion.

3. These Terms of Service may be updated periodically. Continued use of EduDuck constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

8. Limitation of Liability

1. EduDuck is provided "as is" without warranties. We are not responsible for errors, downtime, or inaccuracies in AI-generated results.

2. EduDuck and its developers are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of the platform.

3. Generated quizzes, flashcards, study plans, and note analyses are for educational assistance only and should be reviewed for accuracy.

9. Governing Law

1. These terms are governed by the laws of Poland. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be resolved in the courts of Poland.

10. Children's Use

1. EduDuck is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
